This training is heavily practice-oriented, consisting mainly of active engagement in aerial photogrammetry through advanced practical exercises. These exercises are adapted to the participants’ existing knowledge and are designed to challenge and expand your capabilities in complex project execution and data analysis.

Course objectives
- To deepen and expand upon the fundamental principles of photogrammetry.

- Valid EASA A1/A3 & A2 certificates (or higher, relevant to operations).

This intensive 5-day PRO training is approximately 50% practical exercises and project work. Key areas include:

II. Advanced Mapping Concepts and Technologies:

- Airborne Devices and Sensors: Exploration of various UAS platforms, advanced camera sensors, LiDAR, multispectral, and thermal imagers. Demonstration of different drones and sensors.
- RTK/PPK GPS/GNSS: Theory and practical application for high-accuracy georeferencing.
- Advanced Georeferencing: Deep dive into coordinate systems, elevation models, and transformations.
III. Detailed Photogrammetric Processing & Applications:
- Imaging Applications: Review of standard and specialized uses.
- Detailed Photogrammetric Processing Workflow: Advanced techniques in image alignment, dense cloud generation, mesh optimization, texturing.
- Standard Applications: Optimal implementation strategies for common projects.
- Special Applications:
- Advanced 3D reconstruction techniques.
- Generating and interpreting plant health indices (e.g., NDVI).
- Infrared (IR) thermal mapping principles and processing.

- Conducting a typical complex mission as a team.

- Execution of the flight mission(s).
- Thorough evaluation of acquired data and mission outcomes.
- Group discussion, debriefing, and lessons learned.
- Advanced 3D Reconstruction Project:
- Execution of a complex 3D reconstruction project from A to Z.
- Includes terrain survey, meticulous data capture, advanced processing, and final evaluation of the 3D model.
- Multiple Practical Exercises: Several hands-on exercises are integrated throughout the course focusing on specific techniques and software workflows.
Practical content
This course is heavily practice-focused (approximately 50% of course time). Participants will engage in:
- Multiple advanced practical exercises using various datasets and software.
- A team-based "mapping competition" simulating a real-world complex project.
- An individual capstone project involving the planning, execution, processing, and evaluation of an advanced 3D reconstruction.
- Hands-on work with different types of drone data and sensor outputs (if applicable).
- Intensive use of photogrammetry processing software to apply advanced techniques.
Exam & assessment
Assessment in the Photogrammetry PRO training is continuous and performance-based, focusing on the practical application of advanced skills:
- Active participation and demonstrated understanding during theoretical discussions and practical exercises.
- Successful completion and presentation of the team-based "Mapping Competition" mission, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
- Successful execution and comprehensive evaluation of an individual complex 3D reconstruction project.
- Demonstrated ability to apply advanced processing techniques and critically analyze results.
A certificate is awarded upon successful demonstration of these advanced competencies.
